A contextual colour
White changes with what surrounds it. Next to yellow it feels cool; against black it becomes luminous. On paper it absorbs light, while on screen it emits. It never exists alone.
In an editorial system, white controls rhythm and hierarchy. A wider margin can make a caption ceremonial. A narrow column can turn an ordinary paragraph into a manifesto.

Building clean tension
We often oppose open surfaces with compact typography. The contrast is not merely black and white, but two kinds of density: one lets the eye drift, the other forces it to stop.
That alternation creates an almost musical reading. White spaces are silences, images are chords and titles are impacts. When the rhythm is right, the page feels inevitable.
